RAVENNA HOSTS STAFF EXCHANGE AND MANAGEMENT COURSE
From Monday 24th to Friday 28th March 2014, Ravenna hosted cultural managers and operators coming from the partner institutions and cities of the HerMan project. 28 people from Municipality of Lublin (PL), Municipality of Regensburg (D), Forster Centre (H), Municipality of Eger (H), Institute of Urban Development (PL), Province of Ferrara (I), Marco Polo System (I), Province of Treviso (I), Municipality of Ravenna (I), MAR City Art Museum (I) and RavennAntica Foundation (I) attended the HerMan Cultural Heritage Management and Marketing Training Course.
The course focused on cultural heritage communication strategies and this was the list of the lectures:
Never waste a crisis. Towards a reform of the governance and business models in the cultural sector (Prof. Fabio Donato)
Museums beyond the walls, best practices in Emilia Romagna (Prof. Laura Carlini Fanfogna)
Innovation in the cultural marketing and communication (Prof Federico Borreani and Prof. Davide Baruzzi)
All working sessions were commented and discussed thanks to the identification of temporary issues by BAM Cultural Strategies facilitators. Workshops and simulations were carried on involving all participants too
NEW EXPERIENCES: STAFF EXCHANGE IN RAVENNA
From Monday 3rd to Friday 7th March 2014, Ravenna Municipality organised its HerMan project Staff Exchange. Two cultural heritage experts from the Municipality of Lublin and two from the Province of Treviso joined the Tourism and Cultural Activities Service staff of the Municipality of Ravenna to take part to local activities. Guests had the chance to check the Tourism website (www.turismo.ra.it) and discuss its contents with the editorial staff. They visited the central tourist information office and spoke with its officers about cultural heritage information delivery and tourist related issues. Then, they had the chance to check the framework of the events promoted all year round by the Service and to discuss with the local staff about organisation, procedures, promotion, etc.
Moreover, the partners had the chance to meet the staff of Tamo Museum and RavennAntica managing foundation. They discussed with these people about fund raising, marketing and project management. At TAMO, they participated to the press conference organised for the launch of a new promotional leaflet and related discount opportunity linking the contemporary exhibition of mosaics in MAR – Ravenna City Art Museum to TAMO All the Adventure of Mosaics museum and vice versa. Finally, after meetings and activities, the guests had the chance to visit MAR and TAMO museums, their temporary and permanent art collections, Ravenna Unesco World Heritage List sites and experience some other hidden corners or highlights of the city.
PSP-MEETINGS ORGANISED BY LUBLIN
The City Conservation Office organised two PSP meetings under the pilotage project "Advertisement in the historical space of Lublin – involvement of stakeholders". The first meeting took place on 12 Febraury 2014 during a meeting of theCommission of Culture and Monuments Preservation of the City Council. Representatives of the City Conservation Office prepared a presentation dedicated to the pilotage project and presented its core issues. Our guest was Ms. Aleksandra Stępień from Warsaw from the Assocciation "Miasto Moje A w Nim" who discussed with councillors and politicians on issued concerning advertisement mess together with the ways of dealing with this problem. Based on examples from the whole country, she presented good practices which raised a huge interest from the side of councillors and other participants of the meeting. The meeting ended with a discussion during which councillors and politicians shared a view of the speaker. Finding the way for stopping a spatial mess within the area of the Old Town and the city center under the conservation protection were treated as the most important issues.Find more information attached to this Newsletter.
TREVISO: LAUNCH OF THE PILOT PROJECT AND TRAINING COURSE
The Province of Treviso thanks to the Herman project launched in December 2013 the pilot project eLib platform, the tool for making available digital materials for loan and consultation thanks to the web site
The project is a success, as proved by the statistical data of the first months of platform launching: 215 ebooks are available for loan and other materials are on-line for streaming and download (50 videos, 18 out of audio books and audio guides, 10 data base, 12 on-line dictionaries and 8 videogames). During the first 3 months of the service 395 contacts have been registered, out of free digital resources and eBook loans
Treviso also was visited during the 2nd training course organised by Marco Polo System. The partners spend one day in the Province of Treviso then. During the morning session the partners visited the Province of Treviso, while in the afternoon they have been hosted by Cassamarca Foundation. At the end of the session the Province involved the participants in a guided tour of the city.
NEWS FROM BUDAPEST AND EGER
On the 13th February 2014 the Forster Center organized a successfull international conference with the title: "Introducing and Running Preventive Maintenance Services for Cultural Heritage Buildings". Two roundtable sessions were held, the first one on motivation and demand of different stakeholders. In the second we tried to find answers for a feasible and sustainable model. "It is not quite finished yet, but almost started!" told Sir Graham Bell, the president of the Hungarian Renaissance Foundation in his keynote speech. We know, that we are at the very beginning of the work, and we have a lot of to do....
The inspections of eight buildings and three thombs in Eger has finished at the end of March. Many thanks the monument owners, who let our pilot team work in their property! Many thanks the Municipality of the Eger, who helped a lot to fulfil this experiment!
